The Four Diamonds Fund was created in 1972 in honor of Christopher Millard who died of
pediatric cancer at age 14. Read Chris’ Story @ http://www.hmc.psu.edu/fourdiamonds/about/chris.htm
The Fund has aided over 2000 families since its creation with
new families being added each year.
The fund provides the families with support and funding as they suffer
through pediatric cancer. The fund raises money through different events, like Penn State's
Thon and other school's minithons or events.
The money
raised covers the families’ expenses for travel (gas and lodging), food, and the cost of treatment that insurance does
not cover. A single chemotherapy treatment for an outpatient procedure is
estimated to be $152.53 per dose, compared with $185.39 for inpatient treatment. This cost adds quickly and any help is greatly
appreciated by the families.
The Four Diamonds
Fund also aids in the cost for cancer treatment to develop better therapies.
